Noticing an unusual taste & odor in your tap water?

A person in a white shirt looking skeptically at a glass of water.

You might notice that your tap water has some taste and odor issues – maybe a bit musty or earthy. However, please be assured that your water is absolutely safe for drinking, cooking and all household uses.

Here’s what’s happening:

  1.  It’s temporary – due to bringing our Red Mountain Reservoir into action to meet the extra summer demand. The result is that we can’t cycle the reservoir as frequently to prevent the water from becoming stagnant.
  2.  Plus, the summer heat encourages the growth of harmless algae blooms, which can smell musty.
  3. We’re working around the clock to mitigate this!

Here are some things you can do:

  • Chill it down! Cooling your tap water helps improve the taste.
  • Try running the tap for a minute or using an activated carbon filter from your fridge or a pitcher to improve the taste.
