Person posing as water inspector in Fallbrook
We’ve received reports of someone going door-to-door claiming to be from the State of California, insisting your water is contaminated and asking to enter homes to test it. This person is not legitimate.
- Fallbrook Public Utility District is the only agency handling municipal residential water in our area.
- We would never show up unannounced or ask to enter your home.
- Our official crews always wear FPUD uniforms and carry proper identification.
- We do not sell water filters or provide in-home water tests without prior notice.
- If someone pushes, gets aggressive, or tries to force entry, call the sheriff’s department immediately.
- If you’re concerned or want verification, contact FPUD directly—we’re happy to answer any questions: 760-728-1125.
Please share this alert, especially with elderly or vulnerable neighbors.
Our water meets or exceeds all state and federal water quality standards.
Scammers in San Diego County have targeted residents, especially the elderly, by posing as water inspectors—claiming contamination, demanding entry, or pushing expensive filter systems. FPUD and valid utilities:
- Do not enter homes
- Wear uniforms, carry ID, and drive clearly marked district vehicles
- Never demand immediate payment or force their way in
If you see suspicious behavior—or someone claiming to be from the “state” or a utility—please don’t let them in, call FPUD, and if needed alert the sheriff.
